A graduate of Columbia University's Historic Preservation and Real Estate Development programs, Gregory Dietrich has been working in the field of Historic Preservation for over sixteen years in both the public and private sectors. Between 1999 and 2000 he served as the Acting Director of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission's Historic Preservation Grant Program before undertaking the National Register Nomination of Lincoln Center in 2001. In 2002 he joined Cultural Resource Consulting Group (CRCG), where he managed the New York office starting in 2004. At CRCG, he was a project manager and principal investigator on a myriad of cultural resource studies, while also serving as the company's Director of the Historic Preservation Department. Studies for CRCG included historic architectural and landscape investigations, historic tax credit and grant applications, and Cultural Resource Management studies in order to satisfy state and federal regulatory permitting requirements. In addition, he has provided ongoing consulting services to two municipalities in New Jersey, and appeared before municipalities in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, offering expert review and testimony on a host of redevelopment applications affecting historic buildings and districts. In 2009 he established Gregory Dietrich Preservation Consulting, augmenting his previous work to encompass a range of historic architectural analyses, preservation policy studies, written and verbal testimony, and presentations.

Gregory Dietrich Preservation Consulting is a sole proprietor located in Manhattan and exceeds Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations, 36 CFR Part 61. He currently serves as an Advisor to the Historic Districts Council and is active in preservation advocacy efforts in Morningside Heights.
